{"id":50930,"date":"2021-11-11T07:19:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T13:19:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=50930"},"modified":"2025-09-10T12:56:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T17:56:21","slug":"planning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/planning\/","title":{"rendered":"Transfer Planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transfer planning is important, regardless of whether you are a prospective Augsburg student, a current Augsburg student, or a withdrawn Augsburg student.<\/p>\n<p>Please read the appropriate section below for pertinent recommendations and policies.<\/p>\n<h2>Prospective students<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Earning the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, an associate&#8217;s degree consisting of 30 or more semester credits in general education, and\/or a bachelor&#8217;s degree <strong>prior to starting your first class at Augsburg<\/strong> will waive all of Augsburg&#8217;s Core Curriculum requirements except for two: the Augsburg Experience and Religion &amp; the Search for Meaning.<\/li>\n<li>To graduate from Augsburg, a minimum of 32 semester credits must be completed at Augsburg, within the ACTC exchange program, or through a study abroad\/away program approved by the Augsburg Center for Global Education and Experience.<\/li>\n<li>Of the last 32 semester credits earned prior to graduating from Augsburg, no more than 8 credits can be transferred in from another institution unless it is an approved study abroad\/away institution.<\/li>\n<li>Do an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/evaluation\/\">unofficial transfer credit evaluation<\/a> to see the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Progress toward completing minimum 128 credits necessary for graduation from Augsburg<\/li>\n<li>Course equivalents<\/li>\n<li>Any course that has satisfied an Augsburg general education requirement but not through the course&#8217;s being equivalent to a specific Augsburg course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Run an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/degree-progress\/\">unofficial degree progress report<\/a> (degree audit) to see your progress toward completing graduation requirements for your desired major at Augsburg.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the steps on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/gen-ed-catalog-year-2025-or-later\/\">Gen Ed &#8211; Catalog Year 2025 or Later<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/major\/\">Pathways\/Equivalents for Major<\/a> website pages to determine which courses you may want to take between now and transferring to Augsburg.<\/li>\n<li>If equivalencies are not appearing in Transferology, contact an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/undergrad\/\">admissions counselor<\/a>. They may be able to tell you potential course equivalencies based on similar, already-evaluated transfer courses from other schools.<\/li>\n<li>The assignment of waivers and substitutions takes place after acceptance at Augsburg. Waivers and substitutions will only appear on your official degree audit, which can be generated once the Registrar&#8217;s Office has completed your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/transfercredit\/evaluation\/\">official transfer credit evaluation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Current and withdrawn students<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>You are encouraged to complete transfer courses prior to the final 32 credits for your degree because of the senior residence policy. No more than 8 credits of the final 32 credits can be transferred in from another institution unless it is an approved study abroad\/away institution.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 32 semester credits must be completed at Augsburg, within the ACTC exchange program, or through a study abroad\/away through the Augsburg Center for Global Education and Experience.<\/li>\n<li>If you did poorly in an Augsburg course, retaking the course at Augsburg is in your best interest.
